The Industrial Safety Training System (ISTS) Orientation Training meets BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan legislative worker orientation requirements (as per the new GSO Guideline) and introduces participants to the basic principles of hazard recognition, evaluation, and control. The program discusses common industry hazards as well as employee and employer expectations relating to methods of control. Industry and company expectations are covered, such as “right-to-refuse” and drug and alcohol compliance, in addition to legislative overviews of applicable legislative requirements.

While it is not possible to cover all of the hazards a worker may encounter on a work site, the ISTS Orientation Training has been designed to meet the new GSO Guideline, key legislative requirements, Certificate of Recognition (COR) audit criterion, and common pre-qualification elements. ISTS Orientation can also meet client specific requirements and be recognized as an alternative to CSTS and PST so long as the training is coordinated by a qualified Certified Orientation Instructor who has successfully completed IMPACT’s Certified Orientation Instructor program.

The overall message of this health and safety orientation training is that individuals, no matter their role or position, need to take responsibility for their own personal safety as well as the safety of those they work with. This training is to be conducted for all employees and can also be coupled with current company specific orientations.
